Our flaming good story

The first Bimbo's It’s 1970, on the corner of Kotze and Banket Streets in Hillbrow, Johannesburg, South Africa...Around the same time that the Billboard Charts are topping Diana Ross' 'Aint No Mountain High Enough' and Neill Diamond's 'Crackling Rosie'.

We’re fascinated by foods like Quiche and Ranch Salad Dressing. We’re wearing fashion that is all about individuality and bellbottoms are king.

There is just one problem... Nowhere to eat after the party.

Fortunately, a very clever man from Joburg named Costas Paizes decided to open Bimbo's, and it would be the first in South Africa to stay open 24 hours a day.

The crowds roared with satisfaction! No more after-party hunger! Bimbo's Fast Food was where it was at. The burgers, the fresh-cut chips... A legend was born!

Today almost 40 years later, we're still offering Flaming Good Taste at different locations in and around South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. We're bringing Bimbo's "back to the future". A lick of paint, a couple changes to the menu and voila! We've breathed new life into one of the first proudly South African brands.

You’re welcome.
